APPLICATION / CRYSTAL COAT
Zero Rust dries to touch in 30 minutes and is tack-free within one hour, depending
on the relative humidity and temperature. The ideal window for Crystal Coat
application is when Zero Rust becomes tack-free. If Zero Rust is allowed to
dry too long after the dry-to-touch stage, wrinkling may occur. If this happens,
Zero Rust will need to cure 6-7 days before application of Crystal Coat.
A
1.5 mil dry film thickness (dft) of Crystal Coat should be applied over Zero
Rust. This translates to 2 coats at 3-4 mils wet film thickness or 3 light
coats at 2-3 mils wet film thickness when applying thinned material.
Conventional spray application may be accomplished with siphon, pot, airless, electrostatic or high volume low pressure equipment. Thinning with xylene or aromatic
100 (SC100) at 5% may be necessary for some equipment. Ketones and lacquer
thinner are not recommended. Viscosity as supplied is adequate for airless
equipment. Tip sizes in the range of .010 to .014 help reduce over-application
to protect from runs. Allow 15-20 minutes dry time between coats.
